There was a moment just after The Witcher on Netflix when The Witcher 3 was discounted on a sort of rotating cast of platforms, and I came in just after there was a big Steam sale. This is actually surprisingly handy for me. The logic of “buy one get one” also applies to PC, however! If you already own a PC copy of the game, you can get an extra one to gift to someone else. This will be especially useful for anyone with a Nintendo Switch copy, because Switch also has cross-save with PC. GOG is owned by CD Projekt Red, which also developed The Witcher 3.
If it can verify that you already own it, you can grab it for free on PC.
If you do own one of those copies, you need to download the GOG client and link it to whichever account holds your bought-and-paid-for copy of the game. The free copy is only available to people that own The Witcher 3 on other platforms, like the Switch, Xbox One or PS4.
